India Gate was built as a memorial of the Indian soldiers died in the First World War during the period of 1914-21. It was designed by the Sir Edwin Lutyens who was a leading designer of war memorials during that time. It is illuminated every evening, from 19:00 to 21:30. Its night view is quite amazing and is a reason for it to be major tourist attraction in Delhi.
It is UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built in 1192 and has survived the ravages of time magnificently. Its architectural design and inscriptions at numerous places in Arabic and Nagari characters on red and buff stones, makes it great masterpiece and it is believed that its architectural design is a blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture.
The Lotus temple, which is open to all regardless of their religion, is outstanding centre of attraction in Delhi. It is world famous for its architectural design and has won numerous architectural awards and has also been published in innumerable of magazine and newspaper articles.
Jama Masjid was built between 1644 and 1656 by Shah Jahan, who was also the brain behind the construction of one of the seven wonders of world (Tajmahal). It took 5000 workers working for 6 years to complete its construction. Its Indiaâs largest mosque and can accommodate 25,000 people for prayer.
Delhi has Humid subtropical climate and has hot summers from late March to late June, chilly winter nights and foggy or sunny days from November to February, and the monsoon season from July to mid-September. Please plan your trip with the cloths in accordance to the season.
